A Walk up the malverns
The Malvern Hills are one of my families favourite places to spend an afternoon. I work in Malvern many times during the week dealing with boiler breakdowns and installations and when I look up at the hills, I can hear my kids begging me and my wife to take them for a hike, and the subsequent giant slice of cake at Abbey Road Coffee that always follows.
Our last walk was on a cold sunny day back in febuary, we opted for a shortish walk as it was pretty cold! We walked the Worcestershire Beacon which is the highest point of the Malvern Hills and the highest point in the county. The route is just over 4 miles long and with a bit of piggy backing here and there is easy enough for my youngest.
The walk starts off on westminster road close to parking which makes this circular rout even easier. After a steep climb up throught the town we get onto the trail passing St Annes Well and the nice cafe of the same name where it´s a good idea to stop and grab a drink for the walk if you, like us forgot to pack some.

We always try to walk different parts of the Malverns on our visits, this enables us to take in as much of this beutiful area as possible. Here you can find all of the information you need to plan a day out at the malvern hills and select a route that is suitable for you, your family or your dogs!
Now we are enjoying fantastic spring weather but due the Corona pandemic we are all unable to enjoy this magical place. The Malvern Trust has wisley closed all parking facilities on the Malvern trails in a bid to reduce the amount of visitors and minimise the risk of spreading the virus (article). This is inline with government guidlines to reduce social distancing wherever possible.
We can all do our bit by respecting this desicion and avoid packing the car and clambering up to the Malvern Hills putting ourselves and others at risk. We all want to enjoy this amazing place as soon as possible and the best way to do that is to follow the government guidlines and follow the Malvern Hills District Council website for further information.
